FAQs - Sterling Silver Jewellery

Q. What does the 925 that is stamped on my sterling silver jewellery mean?

A. Fine Silver, 99.9% or more pure, is a soft metal and to make it suitable for use in jewellery another metal, often copper is added to it. Sterling silver has 92.5% silver and 7.5% alloy. The numbers “925” mean that the minimum amount of silver contained in the product is 92.5%.

Q. Will my sterling silver jewellery tarnish?

A. All sterling silver will tarnish over time. You can help protect your jewellery by rinsing it in warm soapy water after you have worn it and storing it in a plastic bag. We recommend that you try to limit the use of commercially available sterling silver cleaning products and cloths as this will most likely also remove particles of your silver as well.

Q. How do I care for the pearls in my sterling silver jewellery?

A. Pearls can be affected by perfume, hairspray, cosmetics and perspiration.  We recommend that you wipe over your pearl jewellery with a damp cloth after wearing and store it in a jewellery box away from other jewellery so that it doesn’t get scratched.

A. We aim to despatch your purchases within 5 working days of receipt of your payment by Registered Mail with Australia Post. Delivery by Australia Post within Australia normally takes between 2 and 5 days but in some rural areas it may take longer.

A. For postage anywhere within Australia there is a flat postage cost of $5 for your sterling silver jewellery.
